How often do raptors change their feathers?

Adult raptors generally molt once a year and do not necessarily molt every feather. It takes about four to six weeks for one feather to completely grow in, and the entire process is gradual. A few feathers are lost at a time so as not to impair a raptor's activity in the wild. Feather replacement usually occurs in a pattern, with certain feathers replaced before others.
